WGO Slams "Million Commie Mommies"

Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. (WGO) – Wisconsin’s only no-compromise gun rights organization – announced that yesterday’s failed veto override of the Personal Protection Act (PPA) is only the beginning of a more aggressive pro-concealed carry movement in Wisconsin.

"The message from our elected representatives who voted against concealed carry is: If you’re faced with a violent attacker, you don’t have a right to defend yourself or your family," said Corey Graff, Executive Director of Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. "And that should outrage not just gun owners but anyone with family or friends whose life they value."

At the State Capital Tuesday members of an organization called the Million Mom March held a press conference stating gun violence statistics.

"What the ‘Million Mommy Commies’ didn’t tell you was that all of the people who have died from so-called gun violence were unarmed, defenseless and utterly incapable of defending themselves – proof positive that laws prohibiting concealed carry result in dead good guys."

He said the anti-gun organization stood against a backdrop of police officers who were at the Capital lobbying on tax payers’ dollars. "Why do the police carry guns? Is the life of a police officer worth more than yours?" Graff said.    While concealed carry results in reduced crime rates and safer societies according to studies by researchers such as John Lott, the overall issue Graff said is that individuals have a right to bear arms — a right currently infringed upon according to constitutional standards.

"The State Supreme Court, in its ruling in the Munir Hamdan case, agreed that our state’s constitution protects an individual’s right to bear arms for defense. But the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights of our U.S. Constitution and even the Declaration of Independence solidify first and foremost that basic right to life."

WGO said the failed attempt to override Governor Jim Doyle’s veto was only the beginning of a long, protracted political battle to restore rights fought for by countless patriots and veterans.
