WI: Ammo Microstamping Hearing This Week!

May 25, 2009
While criminals are busy amassing crates of ammo on the black market, Wisconsin politicians are working to "microstamp" ammunition owned by law-abiding gun owners. A hearing is slated for this week. But the time to kill this freedom-choking legislation is right now.

State politicians claim they need to be able to track every bullet and case in America, to track down those who use guns in crime.
Assembly Bill 221 would force manufacturers to build into each new handgun a microstamp that would get transferred to the cartridge case with the strike of the firing pin.
The legislation, if passed, could ensnare millions of gun owners. Try to imagine the data entry and interpretive errors that could link innocent gun owners to a cartridge used in a crime.
WGO said this Big Brother nightmare could take identity theft to a whole new level. All a criminal would have to do is modify the "stamp" before committing his crime and the stamp's identity now matches you — not him.
