Olofson Update: WGO Launches Operation Gun Book
June 27, 2009
Federal political prisoner David Olofson — who was convicted of transferring a machine gun, which turned out to be nothing more than a malfunctioning AR-15 — notified WGO that he intends to continue his fight for justice, including clearing his name.
"Olofson wants gun owners to know they need to stand behind him to stop the out-of-control BATFE from doing the same thing to them," said Corey Graff, executive director of Wisconsin Gun Owners (WGO). "That's why we're committed to lending state-side firepower to Gun Owners of America (GOA), who are leading the fight for justice on his behalf."
Federal Political Prisoner Optimistic, But Needs Your Help
Olofson said he will be eligible for release to a "halfway house" sometime around March 2010.
As previously reported, WGO members helped Olofson's family last fall by contributing to a special fund set up to assist them with living expenses.
"We're asking everyone getting this newsletter to contribute something to the Olofson fund," Graff said. Imagine if government thugs trumped up bogus charges against you, and there was no way for you to provide for your wife and three children. That's the hell David Olofson faces each day."

WGO Launches Operation Gun Book
Olofson is not only an Army Reservist; he spent 16 years as an army armorer. And now that he's locked up, one way we can help is to make sure he has plenty of good gun books to read to help pass the time.
It might seem like a small gesture, but sending just one or two gun books — or gun magazines — would help him keep his mind on the light at the end of the tunnel.
"As for people sending in correspondance, or soft-cover books, they are more than welcome," wrote Olofson. "I do go through an average of a book every day or two."
